Job Description

Account Manager: Twenty Two Media Group

Location: Hybrid work model / Remote and 14 Duncan Street, Toronto ON

Terms: Full time, 1 year maternity leave with opportunity to stay on

Start date: May

About Us

Twenty Two Media Group is a Canadian print and digital publishing company. We produce Foodism and Escapism: two high-quality print magazines with a circulation of over 50,000 copies in downtown Toronto with supporting digital properties, video and social production. We create content around all things exciting in the food, drink and travel world, collaborate with the country’s best chefs, restaurants and destinations and work with some of the top brands in the space. In addition, we provide creative services which are sought out for providing fresh ideas and sharp perspectives to our clients’ brands.

We are looking for an Account Manager to support our media revenue stream, filling a one year maternity leave. Working alongside our team of 10, you will be a pivotal player in our continued growth and have an opportunity to help shape the publishing industry in Canada.

The Position

We’re hiring an ambitious and strategic team player to join our team as an Account Manager, covering an existing territory for a year while our rep is on maternity leave. This role is all about strategic thinking, relationship building and selling media, for those with a passion for food, drink and travel. An opportunity to stay on at the end of the one year contract is possible based on performance.

You’ll join our advertising team, reporting to the Managing Director. You’ll work across the print magazines & digital platforms of both Foodism and Escapism as well as our Creative Services, Video, Social and Events arms. The role will involve sourcing clients, building relationships and putting together meaningful cross-platform advertising and marketing campaigns for them. You'll do this by working closely with the wider editorial, design and marketing teams to develop strategy, out of the box ideas and creative content to drive business. Our clients work with us across print, digital, social, bespoke content, video, experiential and creative services campaigns. This is not your traditional media sales role and you’ll see success through strong creative and strategic thinking.

Previous advertising experience working for a B2B or B2C media company and a strong understanding of the industry is mandatory. We need someone to come in and hit the ground running with their territory and clients. More importantly though, you have a passion for our products and can get people just as excited about them. You’ll also need to be eloquent, confident, sociable and presentable as a lot of the role is carried out in face to face environments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Managing an existing territory, take over active accounts and continue to develop new business through the categories in the assigned territory
  • Manage and increase business with accounts in your established territory to hit quarterly and yearly revenue targets
  • Sell creative multi platform campaigns via media agencies and clients direct
  • Using the tools provided, deliver professional, accurate, creative and fun pitches
  • Focus on new business development - digging to find contacts and no fear of reaching out
  • Support growing revenue in new streams - i.e. content sponsorships, video, events
  • Liaise with the editorial, design and marketing teams to craft meaningful proposals
  • Oversee the execution of all sold programs
  • Be diligent about providing accurate forecasts, CRM and pipeline management

Key Qualities:

  • 3+ years media sales experience in Canada
  • Print sales experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of the local media landscape
  • Proven track record succeeding in a sales/target based environment
  • Resilient with a desire to succeed
  • Someone that can build a book of business and maintain it through strong relationship building skills
  • Self-motivated, chatty and a great social manner
  • An ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strategic and creative in nature
  • A self-starter and hard worker that can thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Passion for food, drink and travel

Why work with us:

You will be working in a small, self-funded, young, woman-led media/publishing business which means the usual red-tape, hierarchy and politicking traditionally seen in larger traditional companies in this space doesn't exist. You can quickly make a difference (and decisions) here that you'll see the impacts of right away. If you feel passionate about rolling up your sleeves, being part of disrupting an old industry and playing a major role in how we move into the future, we encourage you to apply.

Compensation package:

  • Base salary + tiered and uncapped commission
  • Generous vacation days
  • Extended office closure in December
  • Summer Fridays
  • Health and lifestyle benefits program (HSA)
  • Hybrid work model - 2 days in office / week; 3 days at home
  • Yearly 'work from anywhere' allocation

To apply: We are a respectful workplace committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce. We are an equal opportunity employer and believe in fostering an inclusive work environment where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed. We welcome and encourage applications from everyone. We look forward to hearing from you!

Requirements:

  • Work Permit
